19/08/2011  Italian hunters red letter day.

Today we had three Italian hunters shooting pigeons with us and we rigged a double hide and a single hide. The single hunter managed to shoot forty seven pigeons while the double hide managed to shoot a "red letter day" picking up one hundred and six.

17/08/2011  Sport at this years rut.

Due to other commitments we only managed to fit in two weeks of stalking during this years rut. The first hunting party comprised of Per and Mads from Denmark, who had 6 outings each and went home with two bucks each. The next solo stalker was Clause, also from Denmark who engaged in three outings but only managed one buck - just a little more luck on his side and he could have had a least three.

27/05/2011  Three fine bucks at the end of season.

On our final week of the spring stalking we had John from Denmark out on a hunting tour with CS Sports. He arrived amidst severe hurricane conditions which hindered the shoot on the first two days but then the winds finally eased up and we managed to shoot three nice bucks.

18/05/2011  The weather and the hunting improves.

Lasse Larsen and Paul Eric have just left after three days of successful trophy hunting. The dramatic rise in the morning and evening temperatures plus a swing in the wind direction has improved the stalking conditions immensley which resulted in them coming across a great many six point bucks which they could have shot but were safe as as they were only looking for the big special ones. They ended up stalking and shooting two fine bucks, one gold medal and one which should make bronze. Another opportunity for a decent medal was missed plus a fox eluded them.

05/05/2011  Good deer hunting despite the poor weather conditions

Gert and Carlo from Denmark arrived this week on a hunting and stalking package comprising of six outings each. The Scottish weather is still unsettled meaning very cold mornings and nights with a lot of frost in the early morning. Despite the conditions they managed to stalk and shoot six excellent bucks, the best being an eight pointer taken by Gert although Carlo's beast with an unusually tall head was also very nice.

30/04/2011  Slow start for hunting and stalking season - but improving

Although the Scottish weather has improved it was another demanding week for our deer stalking friends on tour from Denmark. The very cold mornings and evenings are proving to be extremely challenging and we are still finding it difficult to locate the much sought after big bucks. The two excellent Danish guns shot three bucks for their six outings, but there were a few misses and we should have shot at least one more.

26/04/2011  A result despite poor hunting and stalking conditions

We accommodated a hunting and stalking group from Denmark last week, unfortunately we saw very little deer activity because of the very cold mornings and nights - plus we had fog to contend with! Even so in true hunter spirit we persevered and managed to shoot 5 bucks of which at least one should make a medal. Our hunting and shooting estate is big and wild with plenty of natural cover and the bucks are proving hard to find but hopefully with a little luck and skill they will start to become plentiful soon.

16/02/2011  Short shooting tour in Perthshire.

Angus and Zak from Manchester booked in for a day’s stalking and shooting Does. Zak had a very good morning but unfortunately for Angus and myself we found ourselves misted out just after the first shot and kill of the day. The night time stalk was much better and provided excellent chances for both of them again. The conditions demanded a lot from their hunting skills but at the end of a tough but enjoyable day they had 6 Does hanging up in the larder. Pictured is the pleased and happy Zak with this his first ever doe - stalked and shot on the hunting grounds of Perthshire, Scotland!

14/01/2011  First time hunters enjoy their shooting break in Perthshire.

11/01/2011  A great days shooting at Balvaird, Perthshire.

We had a Boys Day at Balvaird on the 10th January as just a wee thanks for all their help through out this hunting season. We had a superb days shooting and ended up with 43 head of game, with the best shot nominated to "the backdoor" as he had killed a superb pigeon high and far out.

We had Ian, Matt and Roo up from London for a day at the does. The morning session was very frosty and the snow was making a lot of noise underfoot - two of the boys were blank and the other missed. In the afternoon Ian shot his first deer as did Roo, but sadly another three were missed. Matt was the only one to escape getting "blooded". Next year Matt!!!

We had Terry and the boys from Wales up for a couple of days last week, we lost the first day completely due to the amount of snow and gridlocked traffic surrounding our area. The second day consisted of a brilliant rough day then we went flighting geese. They had the chance of Pinks, Graylags and Canadas during the flight.

We recently had 2 danish hunters with us for 3 days pigeon shooting in a shared hide. The 3 days provided perfect conditions with cloud and a good wind but for some reason the pigeons were not willing to decoy. We tried everything but to no avail - they ended up with 129 pigeons for just 350 shots.

We had two hunters in for 2 days who managed to shoot 7 bucks. With three medal heads and four normal bucks it was a good end to a long week. The only bad point was that 2 foxes were missed! The best of the heads that were shot was on the last evening, a seven point buck which weighed 534g.

We recently had James and Jill up stalking from England for a couple of days, James shot 2 bucks on the first evening followed by Jill shooting her first ever buck the following day. The final outing proved to be blank. A lot of deer are still showing up but with strong winds recently their not very settled and quite wary. We are looking forward to seeing them both again during the shooting season for a couple of days at the pheasants.
